For the past decade, Mohammad has been a regular presence at the Ekuveni track. Witnessing his impressive progress since I began taking running seriously for fitness has been remarkable. Trained in Nepal and Sri Lanka under various coaches, he frequently travels abroad to compete in races. Mohammad has participated in and won numerous tournaments. However, he has faced the financial challenges of competing internationally.

He once requested assistance in securing exposure in public television to enhance his profile and attract sponsorship, enabling him to participate in marathons abroad. I’ve had to clarify to him that numerous participants also seek exposure on State Media and he should take steps to capture the media’s attention – perhaps by setting or breaking a record of national interest. A few months later I observed him on the popular TV program “Heyambo”  sharing his experience of winning a 5 Km race in Singapore.

This is how I would define motivation and reaching the target. Since 2020, Mohammad has held the national record for the five-kilometer race, achieving this feat in Ras-al Hima, UAE.

Mohammed is presently preparing for the Dubai Marathon, scheduled for January next year, and has recently departed for Nepal, presumably for altitude training. He is under the guidance of a Moroccan coach, and I extend my best wishes for his success in making a significant impact in marathon running.

It appears that Muhammed has acquired a new pair of shoes for his training in Nepal, coincidentally the same model I own. In the photo, both of us are celebrating the shoes on his first day with them.

While I don’t aspire to be a runner like him, it's evident that Muhammed approaches running with a level of seriousness beyond many experienced runners.

I bump into Muhammed almost every day at the Ekuveni Track. Mohammed now runs with the running Academy Elite Runners. And he is a full-time soldier. I believe he is always in runninmode. His social media handles go by this.
