Not all of us gets up early in the morning. And getting up early doesn’t necessarily make us super productive. However waking up super late is almost never a good idea when we need to be productive.

Starting early makes sense if we want to get ahead. Hence Robin Sharma’s book “5am Club” explains how one can systematically embark on this practice.

The books posits what one should do, a step by step guide if you will, from the time we get up and explains how one can master this practice by following some guidelines.

The Quran, in several verses, mentions the importance of mornings; a few different verses particularly caught my attention.

“Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of Allah); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning.”

— Sura Al Imran, Verse 17

“As the morning broke, they called out, one to another

"Go ye to your tilth (betimes) in the morning, if ye would gather the fruits."

— Sura Al Qalam, Verses 21, 22

These verses make it clear to me that for stability in life one needs to start early in the morning. Moreover the later two verses also offer key insight into team work and productivity.

I found these to be very useful insights and tactics which encourage good sleep and an early start to the day.

I found Sharma’s book to be practical, useful and informative.
