Sometimes it’s difficult to foresee where life will take you. And it’s unpredictable who you will bump into and further surprising if it’s at an unusual place.
Yesterday, during lunch break, I was taking the elevator and bumped into a person whom I met few years ago, who was on a short visit to Maldives to conduct a training program.
This gentleman is Mr. Savysaachi Jain better known as Saachi.
I met Mr. Saachi few years ago in Asian Media Summit in Malaysia. At that time I was actively involved in changing some aspects of Television Maldives, so was looking for assistance in training and consultancy for the process.
One of the people I asked for guidance was Mr. Saachi. He directed me to a discourse forum where there was a pool of consultants who were available for hire.
From this pool we got hold of couple of consultants who later helped TVM in making some considerable changes that shaped the direction of the channel.
At the time I met Mr. Saachi, he was involved in Thomson Foundation, India, and I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Saachi on the final manuscript of ‘An Asia-Pacific Approach to Public Service Broadcasting’, spearhead by AIBD.
This book was one of the reference material, in the Broadcasting Law of Maldives which was formulated by then Minister of Legal Reform Minister Uz. Muhammad Nasheed, now member of the parliament.
From the brief conversation I had with Mr. Saachi and from the Facebook updates by some journalists of TVM I believe Mr. Saachi is conducting a training program for MBC, to prepare journalists for the upcoming election.
I wish Mr. Saachi a pleasant stay in the Maldives, a useful training program for the participants, and MBC success in their endeavour in serving the Media.
